Battery question

Can anybody recommend a battery that will last more than 18 months? I had to have my batteries changed about 18 months ago and I noticed that the sidewalls were bowing out and sweating. My mechanic told me that the batteries are not built worth a crap. This is the second or third time I have had to have the batteries changed out. The batteries are Motorcraft, so if anybody can give me any good information, I'd appreciate it.

The company the rebuilds them closest to you. The company that services the electric forklifts batteries in the industrial area near you. Interstate. Just the freshest batteries. The best batteries I get are Edmonds which is just a local rebuilder. They last 8 years no problem. And I've only killed them by leaving the lights on. Cheapest option aswell. You get a 950 CCA battery an it measures out over 1300. And keep the warranty and mark the batteries. Places that only sell batteries have the best ones.

No problem getting batteries to last 6 years or more on an easy starting truck with a charging system that's working properly. Buy most of my batteries at Walmart or O'Reilly, no problems.

Do you have both batteries insulated?

Sounds like excessive heat or venting problem.

Ford makes a battery insulator sleeve.

I believe my 2001 only came with one on driver's side, so I bought two new ones.

I run the Batteries plus X2 AGM which are Enersys Odyssey batteries. The odyssey batteries have last me a good 10yrs or so and i did not treat them well.
The Duracell batteries are East Penn/ Deka batteries that many have had good luck with as well. A good majority batteries sold under various names are most likely made by East Penn

I replaced my original Motorcrafts with Interstate AGMs, actually bought them from my buddy and he did at his shop, going on 3 years now IIRC. But Interstate does sell two different AGMs for our trucks. And a total of five different batteries.

I'm happy so far with the AGMs.

Or that...

Isn't there like only 2, maybe 3 battery manufacturers in the US? So it seems like these cheaper big box store batteries and car part store batteries are made in the same plants as the name brand batteries.
