battery question

battery question
bought this 2004 f 250 diesel about two weeks ago. used to own a chevy duramax a few years ago. i really like this truck but i have a question. the truck has super start batteies in it. one is a cca 880 extreme battery and the other battery is a cca 675. this doesn't seem right to me. i have had both batteries checked and they are good. but this seems like they should be a matched set as far as the cca's are concerned. do you think i should change these batteries out for a matched set. they are two years old. opinions please.

I would, just for piece of mind. Just get some matching 850 cca's from a major marketer (Costco, Interstate, Odyssey, Optima, etc.). Then you know the warranty and their birth date and how they are being treated! Just my 2 cents ....

They should be a matched set. If they are both good, then finding an 880 cc battery identical to the one you have would be acceptable. Like blowhole said though, you don't know what the potential life span is of your current batteries. Depends on if you want to save a bit of money and purchase an identical of one that you have, or go all new. If you have other cars that take a 65 battery, then you will still have 1 ( or 2) good batteries around.
I have never seen a problem with a good older battery working with the identical new battery. I have seen good older batteries NOT identical to a new one cause problems. Usually problemsarise during long cranking times cold. Puts uneccesary stress on your starter.

And for that reason you should always replace your batteries in pairs. Never replace just one on these trucks. I would get 2 new batteries as soon as money permits.
