I was told on this very forum that the stock EFI intake for pass cars were junk. Even the stock truck intakes were far better. They may still be found in scrap yards for cheap.
If your ECC uses MAF, it will probably adapt to the better flow. If it's SD, it will be confused by the additional air flow, since it uses manifold pressure and temperature to calculate air flow.
I am wondering now how restrictive the stock intake is. I already have a set of heads for it, but I cant afford the $1000 for that intake at the moment. Did you have to tune it or mess with the computer at all?
Basically I did intake, cam and headers, built for torque, daily driver, weekend warrior street truck.
Stock SD was fine, just idle wasn't great, hunted a little, but otherwise didn't have to modify the stock SD.
After a tune, idle was better and throttle response way better.
I am on a pretty tight budget (Like $1,000). I already have a set of heads but I still need a cam and that's where I was questioning an intake because that would put we way over budget. The only experience I have with tuning (If you can even call it that) is making custom maps from my dirtbike. Did you take it somewhere to tune it or do it yourself?
Custom maps is custom maps.
its a matter of data logging then changing the maps.
if you’ve done a bike, you can do a car.
tunerpro rt software, free, the pickup a quarter horse., moates is back $250.
efidynotuning for the files. Yes, SD is supported, actually all SD are supported, MAF is less supported, lol.
Well they make it super easy with the newer bikes, they have an app that hooks up to my phone and I can change the map around. I have a very basic understanding of how it works but it is very simple on the app that I have. Thats why I was worried with doing something older.

Download the latest TunerProRT here: https://www.tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm
Then go to efidynotuning and download the A1C strategy files, the .xdf, .adx. and .bin file: here [A1C] Strategy Files - EFIDynoTuning Forum
Load those into TunerPRO and play around.
A bit of a learning curve, all how-tos are on efidynotuning, getting started, first tune, etc..
Or pay over $1000 for pimpx, or $400-$800 to get someone else to do it for you.
what tool would be needed to then load those tunes onto the truck, I also deleted all of my emissions equipment when I swapped my motor, and was curious as to how to remove that software from the computer as well

Quarter Horse connects via USB cable to computer. It piggy backs onto any EEC-IV or EEC-V plugs into J3 port.
TunerPro RT downloads/uploads and also monitors real time.
If you deleted the air pump and solenoids, there is switch to turn it on/off, THRMHP - Thermactor Air Pump Hardware present = 1, otherwise = 0;
I will look into those further. I deleted the air pump, cats, and egr. I haven't ran my codes yet, but I'd assume that some of them are from the smog stuff. Thanks
