Thank you for taking the time to post this info, looks like the answer! Better than plugs, because stuff would get in the gap in the first place. I assume you used the 4.25" as that's the link you provided, not the 7". I'm going to click one as soon as I hear a size confirmation from a user.
I know the manufacturer ESI from the mountain biking world, they make nice grips.
I went with the 7” version so the edge in the bed is covered by my rubber bed mat.
I just looked close at mine, I have a power tailgate. With all the ridges and brackets, I'm not sure where I would position it. What's the adhesive width, 3/4" ish? The mat would cover the front edge on my configuration, too.
That last load of rock was the first bulk load in the new truck. I have a bed mat down in the truck, anyway, and I stole the other one from my other truck, then laid a tarp down to catch everything. This isn't my first rock rodeo. What I didn't do was make sure there was enough tarp to cover the gap when I lowered the tailgate... it never was an issue on my '09 SuperDoody. I know better, now.
But, I do want one of these:
Funny, story... my brother and I ran a landscape company in Columbus, OH for a bit. We had a sod job... cutting the old sod out, and replacing it with new. We loaded the cut sod in the back of the pickup truck and hauled it to the dump. That was the last time we did that! The next week, we went out and bought a 1-ton dump truck.
