Weather strip question.

In removing old weather strip from the doors of my '53 F100, I discovered that at the bottom, the rubber is held captive by a flanged steel strip that appears to be spot welded to the underside of the door. The door is solid and not rusted through, but some of the strip is rusted away. Is it necessary to secure the weather strip or will adhesive be adequate?

Those flanged strips are reproduced. I would recommend putting them on. If they are not totally rotted off, a partial one might be good enough.

The front half is rusted away, the back half looks ok. I've not run across the reproductions. Any suggestions for a vendor?
