Power steering pump keeps leaking at that swivel elbow that the high pressure hose attaches to the pump. Changed the pump, new hose, new o-rings on the fitting that goes into the pump, but the fitting is still leaking. I guess there is an internal oring that seat snugs up on. I can’t get it to stop leaking the fitting is bottomed out on the pump but the elbow is still slack. What is this fitting called and where can I source a new one?
While it's hooked up to the pump, pull out on the 90 gently. You should feel it pop into it's seat. If the seat is still good should seal under pressure. It could have some dirt or grime in the seat. While it's out try to clean it out. If that doesn't work NAPA should have a new one. Also try Rockauto.com.
I can’t find it anywhere. Doesnt jive with any parts schematic. The truck is not Hydroboost but the only schematic that I see at the parts sources are hydroboost but even they look different.
I have a '92 and '90 but both my pressure hoses on the P/S pump are crimped assemblies and I've never seen a fitting like you have in the picture there. What year truck do you have?-----Edit: Nevermind, just read your other post.
You can see the fitting in this picture. I guess it comes with a new pump.
This is BBB 7110101. I recall seeing the fitting on the power steering pump on my 86 F250. I'd think you could seal it with new o-rings. Did you remove the pump from the truck? Are there o-rings in the pump as well?
Is this a replacement fitting that eliminates the line and replaces it with an AN fitting?
I replaced the o-rings. The fitting bottoms out in the pump, and is tight. The swivel is still loose, and that’s where the leak is. That fitting does not resemble any fitting, on any line I can source, from any company/parts supplier. I can’t figure it out.
The fitting is supposed to swivel. Looks like the one on my truck, 86 6.9l
I recently removed my PS pump and during removal I pushed in on the swivel while trying to rethread it into the pump. That pushed the knuckle out of its seat. Once installed I pulled out on the swivel and it popped back into the knuckle. No leaks.
That fitting is the outlet pressure regulator, that may not be a actual name for it. I believe it comes with a new pump? I know those could be changed depending on the vehicle the pump was meant for if it had different pressure requirements. The elbow you are referencing is not part of the fitting. The elbow doesn't seem to be stock, the hose should be crimped the elbow with a fitting that screws into the pressure regulator and allows the hose to swivel. There is an oring that goes on the end of the hose, I want to say that it is an ORB (O-ring Boss) type of fitting, or similar. The o-ring creates the seal, a nut backs up a ring in the pipe to hold it in place and allow it to swivel. It looks like someone brazed a flare fitting on the other end of the elbow?
You need to separate the nut from the swivel fitting and replace the o-ring that is in there. New hoses come with the o-ring, often in a separate bag with a note to make sure you put it on the end of the hose. It may be a flat disc shaped ring instead of a round o-ring, its been a while since I've had one apart.
