The 29 year old radiator on my F250 has started leaking, time for a replacement. Does anyone make a traditional copper/brass unit? Failing that, what's a good source for an aluminum one? For reference, this is a 96 F250 460 5 speed.
If you want a GOOD all aluminum radiator you have to spend big bucks. The $4-500 ones aren't that good of quality. You are better off getting an oem replacement. The factory radiators do not have a problem cooling these trucks even towing max weight up mountains in the heat. If everything is functioning properly you won't have any cooling issues.
I bought a Mishimoto a few years ago for my 03. I can't remember what I paid for it, but it was expensive. And I ordered it on Amazon. Bad idea. The seller was not Mishimoto but a retailer, who repackaged it in cardboard then sent it UPS. It arrived with bent fins and some other minor damage. I should have sent it back, but was in a panic to get back on the road. If you go that route, go genuine through their website. I do like the quality and aluminum tanks. It doesn't cool any better or worse than stock though in my application.
Spectra from Rock Auto. Inexpensive and pleasantly surprised to see it stamped as being made in Canada. If you do want alloy Rock Auto does sell one and I believe it is a re-branded Champion. Champion radiator is Chinese, but I haven't had any issues with the ones I run on my hotter project vehicles.
