I have a 1976 F-250 highboy. Automatic transmission. And need a new radiator. What years of ford truck have the same style of radiator ? Or any other radiator that will work. Thanks
67-77.5 Would be all but guaranteed. I think your best bet is to have original recored ($$$$) or to source NOS or good used OE. Alternatively, just order whatever aluminum/plastic excuse the parts stores carry today.
On that thought, they do have some pretty nice looking all aluminum radiators on eBay that claim to fit....but measuring is mandatory!
If you have A/C or the tow package it will be a larger radiator.
I have a re-cored A/C original in my '76 highboy and if you can't find an original there are copper reproductions. I can get the number off it if you need it.
If you just want something cheap a new aluminum /plastic one like the new rigs have works fine and looks much better than the hideous welded aluminum ones.
As others have said, works off of options and measurements. SC XD AC inside/ outside flange. A recore is a no brainer slam dunk. It lasted 50 years, worth a recore of what was in it no frills or promises of more cores better.
Thanks folks. I do not have air conditioning. Just automatic transmission. I do have the old radiator. May have to just get it repaired. Probably try fixing it myself. Would just remove the leaking core and solder up the holes in the tanks. I have a radiator pressure tester to check for leaks.
. Kinda was looking for what other years had the same radiator. I'm kinda ol school and not sure about an aluminum radiator. Also need a shroud. What years used the same shroud ? Thanks again
Almost nothing before 1967 or after 1979. You will be looking at 1968-1977 for most any part. Obviously a 302 F-100 is not going to have the radiator. 68-77 F250/F350 is going to be it. Maybe a F100 with 460, AC, and towing package.
Just dole out the cash to have the original one re-cored and never worry about it again. Expect about $450. Add $150 to that if you want an extra row.
I wish I could get mine done for that. There's two radiator shops left in a 50 mi radius around here. Primarily kept in business just by heavy equipment and government fleets (Buses). They wanted $650 for a HEATER CORE. I said I'll just place my order with China instead.
My local shop would not repair a leaking tank. A seam yes but a tank flexes with pressure. Sometimes I guy has to do what he has to do. I wouldn't cut a radiator support. Hard concept for modern times but if you want to drive older you need to save a little for the good stuff. JMO

I think that was most likely the “let’s give him a ridiculous quote so he pisses off because the work isn’t worth it to us” excuse. There’s no way they could stay in business charging that kind of money on a regular basis unless of course, as you mentioned, it’s all government work which means that after they rob you they’ll prescribe Tylenol for your headache and then charge you $300 for it.

Ha well probably. They also wanted $900+ to do a small tractor radiator which they sell new on eBay for around $150. I know the quality isn't the same but $750+ is a big difference, especially when the other option arrives at your doorstep with little to no B.S. involved.
There's one alternator shop left around here that did not want to do my alternator. Driveline shop wants $900 for a driveshaft. There's a hot tank left somewhere in my state that won't do gas tanks and apparently no one knows what a brake lathe is anymore.
This is why I do everything my self haha. Rant over
Yeppers I'll probably pump up some pressure in the radiator and find the leaks. Then just remove the damaged cores and solder them up at the tank.
. Heat up the solder where the core goes into the tank and with a needle nose pliers pull the old one out. And then solder the hole up. I'm the kinda guy that has to try it myself first.
Thanks folks for giving me an idea of what years of truck I can get radiator and shrouds from
