From another thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post21407865

Your computer JAB1, hardware SMD-219, F4TF-12A650-ARB is for a MAF 302(5.0l) 4R70W California emissions I believe.

In other words, Yes, correct for your truck if built for California.

Some other EECs that would work with 4R70W
BUG2 F4TF-12A650-BBC
HUG0 F4TF-12A650-APA
HUG2 F4TF-12A650-APC

So, the 4 digit sticker you referred to earlier is the tear tag?

And no. I haven't been able to locate such a sticker. I've looked everywhere including pulling the pillar trim.

@wwhite or anyone else.
In the linked thread, the original poster uses the term AODEW. Is this a generic term for AOD (including E4OD and 4R70W) series transmissions?

I can't definitively back up my claim that the truck was sold in Indiana. I did find service invoices from Ruxer Ford in Jasper, IN dated prior to previous owner purchasing the truck. I assumed it had been sold new there.

Is California truck

AOD = Automatic Over Drive, pre-electronic 1980s tech, NO electronics.
AODE = Automatic Over Drive Electronic, 1990/1991 electronic control
4R70W = basically an updated version of AODE, 4-speed Rear wheel drive, wide ratio, 1992ish and newer.

AOD different from E4OD, different from AODE/4R70W(similar).

AODEW same as 4R70W, wide ratio electronic control, naming conventions...ugh.

No, it's an incorrect term for any transmission or "series".

Take a picture of the Emissions label under the hood. That will say if it is federal California emissions or not.

I think it will show "CATALYST" or "NON-CATALYST".

Can confirm that the Emissions Label states that the vehicle conforms to California regulations
Thanks for calling that to my attention

Pulled the driver's side kick panel and found the tear tag. Now completely confident that I have the correct PCM. Thanks to all for helping me sort this.

That’s probably the tag that fell off the computer that was installed. Computers have it on the connection plug, as well as on the opposite side where the J3 port is.

do you have one computer only?
or one spare and one in the truck?
