I have a 1985 f-150 4wd that I am doing a 460 swap on. It originally had a 300i6 and the 460 mounts I bought from jegs do not fit the stock frame perches. I ordered frame perches and mount kit from L and L products but that did not seem to fit either. Does anyone know where I can get mounts and/or frame perches to make this fit? hanks.
You know the front cross members are different between non-460 trucks and 460 trucks right?
460 has a notch for the oil filter assy. to clear the cross member.
I cant help on the frame mounts other than they dont go in the same holes that the 300 and think 302 / 351 motors do?
What dose not "fit" so you can drop it in?

You can get a remote oil filter kit to get the oil filter working. You will abandon the original mount perches, you most likely will have to take them off the frame so the L and L mounts will work. Never heard of those mounts not working.
You may want to call L and L. It seems they mention in this link that you need the 351w/302 perches for their mounts to work. I would call them to verify if that is true.
Hey dawson, while i have not done a 300 to 460 swap, i have done a 300 to 302 swap. It is somewhat of the same process. Like they said before, i suggest using the L AND L perches. To do this, you will have to unbolt the 300 perches, and grind a couple of rivets to punch them out for the v8 perches additional bolt holes. You can pay a little extra to pay for nuts/bolts to be provided. Like they also said, you will definitely need to use a remote oil filter unless you want to have fun cutting. Dont forget that the 460 has a different bolt pattern in the back! I have had this idea before to swap a 460 in place of my 300, and when i did some research a T-19 bellhousing will bolt up to a T-18 transmission and i believe the input shaft is the same, so you can use that with the 460. Or you can go with a C6. I will provide some pictures below for my experience. Simple picture of the new perches installed Heres how my little 308 sbf fits in there. The 300 i6 mounts are only bolted in, but to get the perches actually in you will have to grind the rivets down and punch them out. it was not too bad. Heres a 460 i am working on for swapping into a OBS f150 drag truck, that is a work in progress. no machine work yet, but i have ported d0ve heads, upgraded springs, am now just waiting on my forged pistons/rods to come in so i can bump compression.
Just as was posted plan on a set of front springs.
I was in Dawsonville for the last Moonshine Festival. I saw some real nice Ford trucks with the CV/Coyote swap.
The 30s and 40s real Trippers were impressive. Also the early 70s Trippers.
Dawsonville is definitely Ford country. I cannot remember seeing that many 57-58 Ford Fairlanes in one place.
I had my 67 Dark green XL in the Galaxie display on Saturday.
Good luck with the swap.
Thanks Joshua, It's on a 6 inch lift from rough country. Do you have any suggestions of ones I should upgrade to?
I would not worry about it till after the swap. Lift springs are usually stiffer in the first place. You may or may not have a problem. I doubt you will find a lift spring listed for a f150 truck with a 460. The only coil springs made for a 460 are a 2wd f250/350 truck. Can you find a set of those for a 6 inch lift? What a can of worms. If you do have a problem, I would keep what you have and just put a rubber spacer under the spring.

I would have to agree worry about the suspension after you got the motor in and the truck driving then if not right look into fixing it.
