Car stalling(Fuel pump)

While driving my 1990 Ford F150 XLT Lariat, the truck suddenly shut down and wouldn’t start again. There was no power whatsoever coming from the fuel pump relay or any other relays. After some troubleshooting, I was advised to replace the fusible links located by the starter solenoid. Once I replaced these links, I regained power to all systems—prior to this, there were no lights or power when the truck stalled.

Despite replacing the fusible links, I found that the fuel pump still wasn’t engaging, even though the fuel pump and gas tank had been replaced earlier.

A few days ago, the truck shut down again while I was driving. I’m trying to figure out why the truck continues to shut off unexpectedly. Could this be an electrical issue, or is there something else causing the truck to stall and lose power?

To bypass this issue, I ran a direct wire from the fuel pump to the fuel pump relay. This allowed the truck to start up again, as the fuel pump would engage when the key was turned. I wired it so the fuel pump only receives 12V when the key is in the "on" position.

I don't want to keep relying on the bypass wire to start the truck. My goal is to have everything function as it should, meaning when I turn the key, the fuel pump should engage briefly, then stop, and the truck should start normally. However, right now, that’s not happening. The fuel pump doesn't engage in the normal way when I turn the key.

I’ve already replaced the switch, and I've checked all the fuses and fusible links—there's no issue there. So, what could be causing the fuel pump not to operate as it normally should when I turn the starter switch on? I want everything to work as it’s designed to without having to rely on the bypass wire.

What switch did you replace? The ignition switch? Check to see if you have 12v on the red/green ignition coil stud wire when the ignition is turned on.

I changed the inertia switch, ignition switch. Yes I do get 12V.

Sounds like a computer capacitor issue. What happens why you try to pull engine codes? If the computer is failing, it may not spit out any codes, not even the "11-system ok" code.
