Running the KOEO (key on engine off) injector test from forscan. That’s the test that goes thru and cycles each injector individually.
Truck had been sitting for 2 days so oil temps 55-60f. Injector 5 didn’t make a sound during the 3 trials.
Fired the truck, ran a bit rough but didn’t feel down a cylinder. Let run for about a minute. Retested and #5 now sounds like the rest. All other 7 sounded about the same.
FICM volts steady 47.5-49.0.
I’m guessing stiction? Is this enough to condemn the injector?
I think the 2nd good test shows wiring etc good, definitely an injector issue.
I just replaced #8 (dead miss and contribution code) so I’m debating if I need to go ahead and replace them all preventaviely or just replace #5. 153k miles.
Ran archoil last oil change (not the current one) and it didn’t really get rid of the rough running cold. Especially sitting multiple days during the winter.
I think next step is find a mechanic with IDS to run an uncompensated power balance. Cold of course.
0w40 T6 with a double dose of Hot Shots stiction eliminator and see if she improves after 100-200 miles. I'd also dump in a double or triple dose of Hot Shots diesel extreme injector cleaner to make sure you're getting both sides of the injectors.
I was fighting this issue, except all eight of mine sounded fine when testing. It was the only thing left that could be causing my rough start and idle. I big the bullet and replaced 6 of them and left the two that were only a year old. No codes being thrown. Didn’t have a contribution test done though. The new injectors fixed my problem and I feel more comfortable having 8 new injectors at 195,000 miles.

edit: oil is 5-40 rotella
I would definitely try to get IDS and run the uncompensated balance test. One question, do you know your fuel pressure?
