Hey guys, like the title says, I am looking for a local source for a harmonic balancer for my FE 352.
The original balancer in my truck came loose and shifted, making timing marks no make sense. I had a decent used one in the parts shed and put it on. But being sixty years old it didn't last a year. Now it is threatening to eat my radiator or Al least leave me beltless. This is my only working vehicle at the moment so om trying to find an aftermarket source that I cab pick up today. It's the early style with the groove for the belt on the balancer itself. Any help?
I would also. Consider a good used one if anyone in the San diego area has a spare.
Thanks, Dan. TK65
TA455HO, THanks brother. Put the number into the Google machine and found that Dorman makes a repro balancer, single sheve built in, for $95 in stock at my local Autozone. Open till ten with a harmonic balancer puller for rent. I'll probably do it in the parking lot just to save the drive to bring the puller back. Don't need another one have three or four at work.
part number Dorman 594-014.

try summit racing, talk to a tech rep. I was able to get one for a FE 390.
looks like I might have to do that. I punched in the above number into gooooooogle and it came back with the Dorman number I posted. Well I went and picked it up last night and when I got the old one off this morning and compared it to the new one the diameter of the hole in the middle was obviously way off. About a quarter inch. Do you recall the diameter of your crankshaft snout? Mine is roughly 1.375" the replacemant balancer is 1.225". Do i have a sifferent crank, or the wrong balancer?
Sounds like the Dorman is the wrong part. The one at CG Ford Parts that I linked to - in the More Info section shows it's 1-3/8" which is 1.375".
yeah... I put that number into Google and I got that Dorman part number and got.m excited and went and bought it without even confirming the application. I was just happy to find what I thought I needed. Found one on summit for $50 more. So now my focus todsy has shifter from fixing the truck so I can get to work tomorrow to fixing the BMW so I can get to work tomorrow. And fix other people's cars.
