Hey guys , new here officially but been behind scenes reading up for a few. SO here's my deal. I picked up a 09 with the 5.4 motor with only 125k miles on her. Ran smooth for about a day then started losing power and sounding like a duramax when in the gas, throwing code p0010 and that was followed by random misfires . .. I replaced the vct solenoids both, new plugs , removed cats, oil flush and new oil and filters.. still having same issue if not worse, well definitely worse as it has no power at all. Had to have it towed from interstate, took it to Ford, which was no help as all they did was pull the code and tell me I needed new plugs and vvt solenoids, I told them it was already new , they say need timing job but wouldn't quote me only said the labor would be 3k.. I will admit the solenoids are not oem they are Amazon deals .. no other codes except the p0010 and misfire codes . I need this truck running as it's my money maker and I'm currently down. Any help would be great. To me if it needing a timing job wouldn't there be more codes, could it be the cheap solenoids ... I've thrown money guessing any tips or tricks . I tested the solenoid and had voltage and all that.
Forgot to add , I got this f250 because my 2013 f150 ecoboost with 350k miles needs a timing job as it has that tick tick sound all the time now not just at start up and the boost is near nothing now. Feel like Ford has took it to me on this timing deal. .
I don't hold much confidence in Amazon parts. But, that code does point to VVT solenoids.
BTW, sounds like at 350K miles, you got your monies worth from that F-150.
