need more power

Hey everybody. I am looking for anyone who has/who knows anyone that has done a swap from the 4.2 to the 5.4. I am a fan of the 4.2, but it just wont do the job I need (actually want). I have a 2001 F-150 and am always curious on what I can actually get away w/ when it comes to customizing a vehicle. The 4.2 can actually do alot of the work that I throw at it but I want more power so as to never have to really worry about it. On that note if anybody knows where I should start please let me know. I hope to get the above stated done w/ in a year. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I would just trade it in for a new 2004 5.4 and pay the 6K difference it would probably cost you to swap motors. whatever you do, don't get the 4.6, cause I beat them all day long with my 4.2.

I couldn't tell ya. I would never swap a 4.2 to a 5.4 motor. You can get just as much power out of our motor than a 5.4 with a couple of easy bolt ons. Why are you wanting to do this? Do you tow stuff or do you just want more power to go fast?

Joe,

I took the truck out on the highway last night going out to meet some friends and there was NO traffic. I hopped on the entrance ramp and banged it up to at least 110/120 mph within, what seemed, just a few seconds. And held it at that speed for about 15 minutes straight. Stuck to the road like a porche and smooth as glass. Had absolutely no sluggishness or any problem hitting that speed at all. I am very pleased with the power of my beast. Of course, mine was not so cheap to get it there, being the auto trans and large mass of my truck. But I got it almost where I want it now. Really, only two more things I'm doing to it and that's the shift kit and JBA headers and I think I'm done....for quite some time anyway. I've got to stop pouring money into the truck as I have other hobbies and expenses to suck money out of my wallet as well. Track is closed for the holiday season anyway. So I think I'll just do the shift kit for now and the Headers later. Than I should be in the 15's after those mods and that's better than I EVER expected to get my truck to go and will most likely leave it there.

I love my truck.

Tom

p.s. You should be getting that chip soon huh?

Yea, the chip should be here today at about noonish...I hope. It was mailed out Tuesday morning this week, and I was told 3 days. I actually figured Thursday would be the day, but now I'm hoping it will be today. I really don't wanna wait another week for it.

Anyways, hossman, sorry for hijacking your thread.

Well let me know if you get it on time. That was why I got the free t shirt, because it took forever to get my chip back after i sent it back for the custom tune.
