Replacing the cable on passenger air vent pull in a ’63 flareside. The post has a push-nut on it that I cannot get off. I’m working in a mirror and the space is so small I can’t get a tool on it. Any advice would be appreciated.
When I say “tool” I mean a pliar or screwdriver. I’m trying to squeeze the nut to deform it but cant get a big enough pliar on it and cant get a screwdriver under it to bend it. Is there a special tool to do this? The post behind the dash is in a very confined space and I’m having to work in a mirror. The nut will not catch the thread and just spins. I guess I’ll have to fab a tool to get it off. No biggie.
Ended up cutting a narrow steel rod to a length that fits the small work-space bending the tip into a 90 and then sharpening the tip fine enough to get under the star ring and then pry bend it. Basically I made a pick tool. Problem solved.
I’m new posting here but doing so forces me to think a little harder.
Still learning how to search the threads and stuff. Thanks for all the help and patience.
