Heater cables

I have the Deluxe Fresh Air heating system in my 1966 F100. The cables are stiff and do not move that well. One is broken. I am looking at replacing them. Because I have the Deluxe Fresh Air heating system, I have three different cables. Two underneath the dash and one in the dash. The cable (C5TZ-18518-A) that goes to the heater hose under the hood to regulate heat is reproduced and easily found. The cable (C5TZ-18552-B) that goes to the side vent to open and close it I was able to find from a NOS supplier. The cable (C5UZ-18578-A) the goes from the dash to the defroster vents and that turns on and off the blower is proving to be impossible to find. I have checked commercial sellers such as Dennis Carpenter and NOS parts such as Partscounter, Green Sales, etc. The Bronco version can be purchased commercially, but it is shorter. And several threads discuss it but no one seems to say if it can be used. 1967 and newer cables seem to be different.

Does anyone have any idea if the Bronco cable will work or have any idea where I can get that last cable? I already have a used cable and would prefer getting an unused/new cable. Or is there a way of refurbishing my current cable so that it works better?

Thanks,
Rick

The Bronco cable is too short, at least the one I ordered. I’m in the same boat. My cable is broken at the pull **** and can’t find one!

1975 MPC

The original cable used in 1965/66 was no longer serviced

C5TA-18552-A - 23.50" long

the recommended supercede was

C5TZ-18552-B - 28.00" long

To make it the same length as the original it's possible to cut the replacement a bit shorter and then rewind the loop using the FoMoCo Bowden Cable Loop Forming Pliers - one of the specialty tools.

The C5TZ-18552-B was superceded by D1BZ-18518-A

One showing at Green Sales and one at NOS Parts Ltd. I can't say how long or any details about the D1BZ replacement.

The C5UZ-18578-A was also used on Econolines. I believe the original truck number was C5TZ-18578-B but it was superceded by the Econoline (U) number. It's been a while since I held one up to an original but I believe these are longer too.

Thanks. My parts catalog states that C5UZ-18578-A is the replacement for C5TZ-18578-A and it is 4 or 5 inches longer. Any idea where to get them? I have a search on eBay for the past month or more. Nothing.
