Probably no big advantage. Maybe the straps would wear through and weaken with extended or heavy use but would work just fine for most applications.
ANY time a strap is subjected to a sharp corner, it needs to be inspected often. I have not looked at these new brackets closely, but they look pretty squared-off, which means there is a HIGH probability that it will cut through a strap if it moves at all.
Ford would have been better served to have continued to supply the BoxLink brackets with no cleats, or created new brackets that incorporated D-rings.

No argument there. As ATC pointed out earlier the E track compatible brackets offer so much more versatility.
I sold the previous trailer and updated to a new enclosed trailer for my business last summer. I went crazy with E track in the thing. Now I have shelves on E track along with ladder hooks, hanging baskets and tie downs galore.
Same thing with my motorcycle trailer. I have a crazy amount of tie down places for bikes. Also placed the track all along the sidewalls so that tall items could be strapped to the wall to avoid tipping over.

Exactly. Been using them for 1.5 years and they been working fine. When I do need to attach a tie down strap the hook just goes inside the strap loop. The plates are not mounted to a reinforced surface so it’s not like you can apply a ton of force to the strap.
What more do you need than a 5,000 pound breaking strength
