2007 explorer, 4.6v8,4x4, 175000 miles just threw a code #1299, cylinder head temperature switch? anyone have advice about what this means? cant find anything out about it. thanks for your help! just joined today and hope it comes in handy.
Did the engine go into Limp mode when the check engine light came on? That code can relate to the cylinder head temperature sensor identifying that the head temperature is too high. This will usually cause the PCM to go into heat pump mode, shutting off a few cylinders to instead pump air to help cool the engine. Did you happen to notice if the engine temperature gauge was reading normal or higher than normal at the time?
