So what I've got is a 1984 f350, I don't have any keys, I've also got a 1971 f100 and I'm an idiot and lost the keys. So my question is, in the interest of simplicity, how can a guy get ignition cylinders for both trucks but have them keyed the same. Is there any certain key codes or numbers that work on multiple cylinders or do I have to get both and have them set by a locksmith
It's not exactly what you were asking, but it may still be of interest. See post #13 for details of how I reworked the innards of a new door cylinder to match an existing key. I've never disassembled an ignition cylinder but would think the details are similar.
