Does anyone have a better exploded picture of the horn than what’s available in the shop manual?
i took my horn apart to clean it up as its been sitting for years and I don’t think I’m assembling it in the correct order, thanks.
is this the twin hi-way horn?
ages and ages ago "Julie" did a tear down and rebuild, but I bet all the pictures were lost when IB took over the site - that said a search for "twin hi-way" here would get you the thread, some pix maybe - anyone who didn't use photobucket, etc.
You took it apart years ago? You should join the Ford Truck Procrastinators Club. We have many members. I could tell you how many members now but I'll get around to it later.
I pulled the horn off of a 52 that had been sitting for years, today i took it apart to clean it up.
cleaned up and painted, working as it should, ill put it on my 49 after we get back from vacation, thanks.
My hi and low tone horns are not working right. They worked great until a high school homecoming parade where we are honking our horns for an extended amount of time - I burned out the relay. That was 44 years ago and they were silent until recently when I installed a new relay. However, the horns do not sound well - sort of a "zonk" sound rather then the beautiful sounds that once came out of them. There is a tuning screw on both, but the sound does not get better - the tone changes but not to something that sounds good. I did of course tear them apart and cleaned them up before I installed them, but I am wondering if the new gasket I used is too thick and not letting the true sound ring out. I'm going to take them off and use a much thinner gasket to see if that makes a difference.
