Has anybody put a 292 Y-block in a 51-f 2 using the rams horn exhaust manifolds. They are center outlet, will they clear the original steering gear and would they clear a side motor mount crossmember? I have parts to go the passenger car side mounts or the truck front mount. I have both passenger car clutch housing and pickup truck three speed housing. Oh and what did I do on my PC to make the letters lean like they are all of a sudden ? JIM
Hey ,Vern, thanks, I think that was the problem. I started sitting up straight with my laptop and now they are ok. Now, how about the manifolds, any wisdom there ?

Jim, can't help much there. I've never used the Ford ram's horn manifolds. I know that the 48-52 trucks were two inches narrower than the 53-56 so it's possible the ram horns would interfere but you could perhaps offset the engine a little to the passenger side if it was a real problem. Maybe someone with more knowledge will be along soon...
We've had lots of discussions about FEs in the Bonus and Economy Builts and the problems with exhaust on the drivers side (steering box is the problem). But I've been through that fire drill. You're probably going to have to find someone who has a Y-block in theirs and get the straight dope from them.
In the mean time here's the latest discussion we had on the FEs - measurements posted might help you later:
Thanks ,vern and julies, yeah it's not very wide . I have read a lot about the FE and 302,but not much about the Y-Block accept in the trucks that came with them. That won't really help me. I have a 302 and a 460 I could use , but I have two 59, 292 Y-blocks I would like to put to use.Well maybe someone thats done it will come along later. JIM
