I had put a switch in a friends car. I looked at the wiring diagram and figured what wire from the ignition switch would power the starter. Cut the wire and put in a toggle switch in the glove box with wires going to it. So with the switch off, if you hit the key to start, it wouldn't. There would still be fuel and spark, but it wouldn't spin over.
The nice thing is that even if someone hot wired it from the ignition switch, it still wouldn't start, because I didn't tap into the wire by the ignition switch. From the switch, the wiring looks normal.
In my truck I have an msd box, which allows an ignition kill switch. I'm gonna hook that up as soon as I think of a good place for the switch.
That's a good system for the ignition- maybe better than the inertia switch idea. I have options and will do either as soon as I figure out this black/pink or green/yellow from the inertia switch- I need to figure which gets cut into for the wire that will allow for the toggle on/off.
Dutch It doesn’t matter which wire you use, they will both cut power to the pump. Anyways, the dark green and yellow wire is the power side and the pink and black goes to the pump.
I'm going the fuel pump route too, but I have to design mine to be remote start friendly.
Hey Screwy how is the EB ya? I'll check your gallery if you have . Ok, yes, So, I'm ready to chop now once I cut the dark green/yellow I will wire my switch. I got a little cresent switch for $2.50 from the ...Shack and outfitted it inside the ashtray-
thanks let me know how remote start works. is that even possible?

Yes, I have the plans all drawn up. I’m going to pick up a relay, diode, 3 position switch and maybe a button. I say maybe a button because I’m thinking about hooking it up to the seat belt, so no seatbelt no start, if I don’t do that I need a button. It will be a momentarily closed style, so you tap it once to power up the relay, which from their will remain energized till the truck is shut off. I’m setting up the switch so position one will be a bypass, position 2 will disable the truck, position 3 will set it to use the relay. The remote start uses a couple of relays to control the ignition, I’m going to piggyback off one of those relays to trigger the kill switch relay, like the button. So the only ways to start it are 1. Switch in bypass 2. Ignition on, tap switch, start 3. Remote start. I did everything this way so I could still remote start it but disable it to theft, be able to loan it to friends without messing with their heads, it’s self resetting so I don’t have too flip a switch when I get out, just tap a button when I get in (or put my seatbelt on). The diodes to keep power from backing up to the remote start unit and triggering some unneeded relays.
P.s. this system will disable the computer. If I had used the fuel pump, whenever I manually started it I would be missing the prime pulse to the pump.
Now to hunt down the needed wires, and position my hidden button.
Well thought out system. I like the kill switch relay idea. The seat belt is cool too. Maybe you could tap into the horn on the sterring wheel- no you ned remote start- oops. Hmmm, ...
Their really is no suitable button on the wheel. The cruise control system uses a one wire system for all 5 buttons, and I don’t want to loose the horn buttons. I’m working on something very clever, but that’s where I stop posting it on public forums. You never know.
Did you ask Greystreak92 for kill switch info. I did... I'm still waiting- hint, hint.
I am considering several "types" coil, starter, fuel kills maybe I could rig all three? Maybe not. LEt me know how it goes
