The dealership told you to take the control module out and get the number on the unit. That is exactly what I would do.
The original computer is gone. The cardone is what is in the truck. The original ford label is gone which is typical of a cadone rebuild.
My suggestion to find the correct part number is to reference the VIN and/or the calibration number with a Ford dealer. Some folks on the forum seem to have access to at least some of that data. It might be worthwhile to start a new thread just about the calibration number.
The OP could also use the cadone part number to reference ford part numbers if he wants to trust their catalog.
Otherwise, I think the OP is left to an educated guess.

Short cuts are a terrible way to go when you are working on a problem. The more you take, the worst it usually gets.
Thinking that Cardone has the right answer is absolutely a terrible idea. Cardone is not known for anything good. Sometimes, it's all you got, but in this case, it's not.
We have all been there, we want a simple answer, we do not want to spend any money, and we want the repair to be cheap. Sometimes, that happens. Sometimes it does not. I've seen it all too often that people waste a lot of time and money taking short cuts.
it may have been worthwhile to read the whole thread, I have not taken any shortcuts I’m trying to figure it out as best I can. reason for posting is people who are more educated on the subject may be able to assist, which is a big part of having a forum in the first place. PCM part #s and cal codes are a new subject to me and the oem PCM was replaced by previous owner. I’ve also tried to decipher ford catalog but again little overwhelming when you aren’t familiar. Just trying to track down the correct part and educate myself a bit to make sure I’m getting the correct one

thank you for responsiveness and help. You the man. I’ll give a shot with another post and have been trying to figure out cross referencing the catalogs myself but having a hard time find the right catalogs to do so
My experience with Flagship One is that I bought a number-matched ECU from them. I forget the reason, probably because mine had problems and bad capacitors and I needed a quick fix until I could repair it. Anyway, it ran for a few months. In the mean time I fixed the original and kept it for a spare. The F1 unit failed. I had parked the truck, no indication of a problem, came back and it wouldn't start. Put my original unit in and all was well again. Contacted them for a repair/replacement. Sent all the stuff they asked for and even talked to people there. They ghosted me. If you read the "guarantee" it says you only get one repair/replacement. The price left plenty of room for profit even with this possibility. They didn't care enough to even tell me no. They just quit communicating. No email and they wouldn't return my calls. Luckily the unit I received hadn't been touched so my work was virgin and it's ready if I ever need it. I still cringe when I see that name. My advice is to set your expectations pretty low with them.

Sounds like a problem I had with my pickup years ago, I talked about it in a thread:
"1996 F350 E4OD hard shifting is fixed"
it had been an issue for so long I was about to just get rid of it but turned out it was just the PSOM in the instrument cluster, sent the whole cluster out for repair, put it back in and never had another issue. Still worked fine when I sold the pickup in '23

interesting, very interesting I guess Ik what the next thing I’m looking at is, thank you
edit going to pull my PSOM today, don’t know how I never stumbled upon or heard of this problem. A lot of people seem to have exact same issues as me
