thinking about going with this one unless others have had issues. Looked them up in search bar on forum but could not find anything on here with an obs guy that got one of their PCMs
The one you linked is a mass air computer. Is that what you need?
no i do not have mass air flow sensor for my truck. There are a lot of options to choose from with same part# but different last three letters. Not having original computer in my truck doesn’t give me the old part # to go off of
Be nice if you could find one to borrow for testing.
agreed 300 is one thing but 6 is rough, where do you get this info to know that’s the one I need just a non MAF 5.8 with e4od? I was trying to do my due diligence and get the catch code for the ecu/call dealership to try to verify exactly what I need. motorcraft service website and ford service info put all resources behind a paywall it seems like
A Ford dealer could tell you the part number that matches the VIN, if they can be bothered.
gotcha, I’ll get a hold of them I can be persistent lol Hate to drop 600 on something that may not solve my problem, but I really want to know what codes if any are appearing or if the pcm itself is the problem.

Called dealership and they have 8 part numbers for my VIN and said only way to know exactly what it was is to take it off original computer leaving me back at square one. They also said even giving the catch code wouldnt narrow it down, not sure how to proceed now besides cross referencing the cardone part # and just trying to replace it with the same one
You should have a calibration number on your door jamb. If you post that someone on the forum may have the part list matching your calibration. I do not have that information. You could also search using that number and see if you turn up any relevant information.
I think any 94+ speed density 5.8/e4od computer will work.

The dealership told you to take the control module out and get the number on the unit. That is exactly what I would do. Any other way could just waste a whole bunch of time and money. Short cuts are a terrible way to go when you are working on a problem. The more you take, the worst it usually gets.
Thinking that Cardone has the right answer is absolutely a terrible idea. Cardone is not known for anything good. Sometimes, it's all you got, but in this case, it's not.
We have all been there, we want a simple answer, we do not want to spend any money, and we want the repair to be cheap. Sometimes, that happens. Sometimes it does not. I've seen it all too often that people waste a lot of time and money taking short cuts.
