Has anybody run into a GPS failure? The GPS/navigation in my 2023 F250 XLT isnt working. I went through the Ford Pass help/support and completed all of their troubleshooting, which didnt fix the problem. They recommended i go to the dealership. So i did. $200 later they concluded the GPS unit needed replacing. That doesnt seem right after only owning the truck 18 months. Also, since i already have over 36K miles, my warranty is up so it was going to be $895 to replace the GPS.
Yes. TCU failures are starting to pop up. The TCU "modem" module includes the GPS. Seems to be related to an OTA update from last fall. I have a '24 F250 Tremor Lariat that lost GPS and FordPass communication a few weeks ago. Waiting to get it in to the dealer for a formal diagnosis, but I suspect the TCU. Someone either on this board or over on the FordTremor board (forget which) got the TCU back by disconnecting the battery and pulling the TCU fuse, but I tried that with no luck.
NASA can build a space ship that's maintained radio comms since 1977, but Ford can't keep a GPS going a year.
My 2024 F350 (under 10,000 miles) is currently in the shop for GPS and communication failure. Told me yesterday (after 3 days in the shop) that the seats and center counsole is out and still going through testing. The next step is to remove the dash. The rep told me they are following the Ford service notes for this issue. I don't use the nav but new truck, want it to work. The next
What are the symptoms? Red slash through the word GPS?
I had this issue after an OTA update last fall when my truck had less than 1,000 miles on it. Bought the mongoose cable and a $50 two day FDRS subscription, manually downloaded EVERY available update for my truck and it was resolved.
I've been through it. So has at least one other here. Telematics module failure for us. I have a screenshot of part of the repair order. Another member here said his read very nearly the same for the repair. My truck is a 2023 purchased new 1/24 so I'm covered under warranty. Instead of me rehashing it check out the thread linked below. Post #4 covers my situation.

thanks for posting the part number. My truck is at a shop right now, trying to get programmed. I don't have a dealer here, so I have to pay out of pocket and then ask Ford to cover it. We will see how it turns out, but I don't understand how an OTA software can brick a module.

I own an electric motocross bike called a Stark Varg. Last week an update killed a $3,500 battery.
They're sending me a new one.
I hope they aren't like Ford and if an update THEY pushed breaks the bike again they'll fix it.

Yep that was mine. Pretty certain it was bricked by an OTA update since it failed within a day of the last update which was displayed on the Fordpass app. Warranty took care of it with no questions asked but I've since turned off the OTA updates.

My truck was in the shop originally because the traction control button never worked from Day 1. We went back and forth with Ford engineering for 10 months before it was fixed. I'll spare everyone the details and various fix attempts.
On the next to the last visit for that problem, the truck came back to me without a working GPS. The GPS was working when it arrived there. It would only show where GPS was functioned last, which happened to be the dealer's address. No idea why it gave up when they had it. Could very well have been one of the updates that Ford kept telling them to perform.
At any rate both issues have been solved and everything's back to normal.
Good luck with your programming. Last time my truck was at the dealer it spent a couple of extra days because my truck and apparently a few others there at the same time could not communicate with mother Ford.

This seems to be a common issue.
Have they repaired the issue yet? My truck has been in the shop for a month now and say they have never seen this problem.

Following up on this status. It took three trips to the dealer and a couple months of waiting for two different back-ordered TCU's for Ford to fix my GPS and related communication stuff. As predicted it was a failed TCU. While the dealer wouldn't speculate a root cause, I think one of the OTA's from late '24 or early '25 bricked the TCU. Seems to be working OK now.

Thank you for the information. They just want to keep
my truck, forever it seems. Now I’m suspecting that the reason they’re not replacing the TCU is they can’t get one. I’m going to go and try to order a TCU and see what I’m told. Then I can confront them with that.
