I HAVE A 2001 F250 4X4 AUTOMATIC THAT HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND WHEN IT DOES IT SHIFTS HARD. WARRANTY JUST WENT OUT 36176 MILES ON IT. CAN ANYONE HELP ME.
If your only 176 miles out of warranty, I'm sure Ford will still standup and fix your problem. I'm fairly certain of it if you have a paper trail with any previous transmission complaints. I've had experience with this before and was even further out of warranty than you are and they still did the work under warranty. As a matter of fact they replaced my transmission. They said it was a "good faith jesture". Good luck!
I got my Excursion back from the dealer today. The problem was the intermediate one way clutch. According to the mechanic this part was redesigned and the new design is not robust enough so it fails. He replaced it with a part based on the old design. Since this part is a known problem you may get your work done under warranty. Good Luck
