Not Warming Up

This is about a 2001 Ford Focus ZX2. When it runs, it never warms up. The temp gauge always stays in cold. What could be the cause of this? Bad coolant mixture? Thermostat? Any thoughts would be appreciated. This is for my brother.

This is a truck forum but since you have a BII..... I would go with the thermostat first.

Thanks a bunch. He wanted me to check and I told him I would. Thank you for replying. Going with my Bronco II also, It is an 86 XLT automatic. There are days when the heat will kick right in and then there are days that whenever it feels like it the heat will not work and then all of a sudden kick on. What would cause this problem? Again thanks.

Could be the stat also, its cheap and easy to replace. You could also back flush the heater core to make sure its clear while you got it apart.

i just bought a Ford Bronco II with the 2.6 in it. i posted about it here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...5&goto=newpost

after reading this post, i have to say my ford does the same thing ( almost). iot seems it takes an awfully long time for the temp guage to come up. heater works premo, as does the air, ect. im wondering if mine happens to be a gauge problem, or if im needing to swap out my stat too. no overheating, no nothing (bad), but i hate to think ive got a defective temp gauge. this is one piece of equipment no one should be without.

what is the normal operating temp for a FBII?....im htinking its really no big deal to install an aftermarket gauge set anyway, but would like to know for my own reference what the optimum temp should be.

A basic manual will give you the procedures.
