if it wont turn by hand .. eg putting the big bertha on the crank bolt and yanking on it, then u have hydrolocked it, If you already have the plugs out, then you bent somethign up inside. I did the same think on my 84, it just died out from like 5,000 rpm flying down some power line trailes we used as a shortcut. hit a small shallow puddle, but the rpm and water in the wrong spot cause it to .. stall. yea, thats what we thought. towed it out, tried to pull start it, would just light the tires up. pulled the motor apart to find 2 majorly bent and one minorly bent rod were toasted bringing the motor to a stop. I didnt damage anything else, and was able to throw another set of rods in there and had a great motor again. I did thoroly examine all parts before reuse of course. it definatly sounds like your gonna have the pull the motor though. yea ... i dunno about in the junk but kickign urself is probably called for. I did it for a few weeks while i had no truck plenty of times.
Where does the water get sucked in from ? Im assuming the air cleaner ? Probably a basic question, but this is my first fuel injected. I cant think of anywhere else. Sounds like a good argument for relocating the box or doing something to keep it dryer....
(I still cant finger out how this truck runs without a carb !)
What engine do you have? Was this a puddle or a lake? Was it water in the cylinders or antifreeze? Find it hard to believe you sucked that much water in from a puddle. Is your bellhousing intact( no exposed openings)? With all of the plugs out you should get some kind of movement. Let us know. Good luck.
Ok, I have either welded a piston to the wall, bent the piston arm or buggered up the crank! I need to pull the headers and the heads to see if it is the piston. The water was about as deep as a 35" tire in the deepest part. This is a pain!
well, deep as a 35 is virtuall a lake. I was in about 8 inches of water, and if you splash the water up right, it can go right into that stupid intake mouned above the radiator. I am surprised water doesnt go in there when it rains. Its like a ram air .. which is all good and dandy in dry weather, but when it comes to rain or a puddle, and ur at rpm, it will suck anything in there, and the filter certainly doesnt stop water. I wish there was some way to setup a snorkle into the cowl or something with a crown on the top, so it was really hard to get water into it. Either that or safari snorkles needs to make one of their very nice looking abs snorkles that runs up the fender for our truck. I thought about getting the one for a jeep and tryint o modify it, but that truck is gone and sold, and i aint cutting the fender open on this one.
