Check Engine Light Not working
I have a Ford 2008 E350 and the check engine light is not working (it won't turn on at all, not even when starting the van) . Any one know how to troubleshoot the issue? All other lights in the cluster work, except for the check engine light.
From a previous post on here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ight-wire.html
The PCM can be programmed to disable the MIL/check engine light? Anyone know how to enable it back?
I tried swapping a different PCM that I bought used from Ebay (VIN was programmed by seller) however Van won't start or crack. Probably got a bad PCM or VIN number was not programmed correctly?
Anyway to test the check engine light on the cluster through the connector pins?
Thanks,
Gabe
The schematics do not show any external connection to the CEL.
As mentioned in the referenced post, I also imagine the PCM signals the IC to turn on the CEL via a network connection (likely the CAN bus as the IC has a connection to both the MS CAN bus and the CAN but the PCM only connects to the CAN bus). I don't know if the original "prove out" of the CEL is initiated in the IC or the PCM.
Vendors seem to list a replacement CEL bulb up to 2007 but not after so I'm guessing the CEL is not a normal replaceable bulb.
Cracked solder joints in the cluster come to mind
Yes, there is a way to check the cluster bulb (LED) circuit
A 08 service manual is what you need or AllData
Cluster diagnosis and a no check engine lamp flow chart is what you need
