Check engine light

Check engine light
When I turn my key forward my check engine light flashes once for about a half of a second if you don't pay attention closely you wont even see it. Most cars I have driven the check engine light stays on until the engine starts. Is this the norm for the 7.3?

Thank you. At first I though the PO may have removed the bulb but after paying attention is can see it flick on so I know there is a bulb. Being so new to this engine and truck I have really no idea what is going on.
