Transfer case

I own 2005 F-150 4WD and the transfer case is not shifting into 4WD high or low. I check and replaced the usual problems with the system but it still isn’t shifting. The light that indicates it has shifted into high or low is working and I can hear the shift motor operating through the shifting process. I replaced the shift motor over a year ago but I think I crossed up the two wires, brown and black that powers the magnetic synchronizer clutch. I switched the wires back to the proper position but it still isn’t working. When shifting it into 4WD lower and drive forward or in reverse, the tool light on the dash comes on and the truck goes into limp mode until I switch it back into 2WD. Is there a way to test the synchronizer clutch to see if it’s damaged? Any help would be helpful, thank you.
