After a few setbacks of having to fix other items, I finally got the newly reupholstered seat installed in place of the F250 leather seat I have been using. Now I need to decide whether to try to paint the trim pieces that go on the hinge between top and bottom or watch for some good ones. Mine aren't broken, but the chrome paint is about gone from them
I have a local upholstery shop who has done good work for me in the past. It cost me about $150 more than just materials would have run me. And he custom fit it whereas the material I was looking at was not a custom fit.
They added foam to the seat portion. New burlap. He said the seat back foam was in excellent shape. The man who owns and runs the shop used to do restorations of his own and still has a couple of older show cars that he said he just doesn't want to get rid of yet. What I think is great with him is that he is teaching some younger guys the lost art of actually taking an interest in quality work.
