I am looking at converting the front drum brakes on my 67 F100 which currently has drums all around. The point of concern I have is the twin I-Beam suspension and how to keep the original I-Beams for the conversion. Which conversion kit have many of you used and why as compared to the others? I realize I could find a proper donor and build from there but there are so many options out there nowadays that I would rather but a conversion kit that takes all the guess work out of the install. Kind of like a plug and play solution. As I said previously, there are many kits out there which is why I am dizzy just reading about them and decided to ask for assistance from the folks here which have always steered me in the right direction previously. So, any suggestions? TIA and cheers!!!
The best and easiest way is to find a donor and swap everything. Thats the only real plug and play solution. Unless you go with a high dollar Willwood kit the cheap ones are going to be mostly Chineseium parts. Here is a link to look at. Installing Disc Brakes on Your 2WD Pickup - Pt. 1 - FORDification.com
Thanks, CD, for the reply. To be honest, I was thinking of going with Wilwood or CJ Pony for their version of the conversion. I guess I should've been more specific in that I do want a "new" conversion kit while retaining the twin I-beam suspension. I have read many, many and more than many articles anywhere there was information on what to do and I have pretty much settled on going the "new" parts route. Therefore, I was asking the forum what kits have they used and why that kit versus any other kit. I do have a 75 but want to keep that intact for now. Anyways, Happy New year and again, thanks for the reply.
