Are these two computers compatible?

I've been having issues with my truck and finally came to the point to try another ECM. I've tried a couple that were not appropriate, and just recently found a close one online.

Are these two compatible?

Mine is the first one, out of a 94 f250 5.8 E40D
And the second is out of a 92, same everything.

The middle numbers match!

This one is mine
This one is mine
This is from the 92 i want to purchase
This is from the 92 i want to purchase
Thanks in advance.

No.

12A650 is the Ford engineering identifier for "computer".

It's everything in front of & after that's important.

The second is out of a 95, not a 92

As they there 94 and 95 computers, both running SD48B they are probably interchangeable. Hopefully others will chime in with more definite information.

I have learned to be very cautious when buying used computers like these. Get detailed photos of the board so you can check for damage before making a decision.

The hardware is exactly the same, same pins on plug, Speed Density, engine size, transmission type, etc.

The only differences is the calibration. Could be air fuel, spark, torque, etc, table differences for sea level and altitude.

I could probably tell you the differences with BAN1. I'd have to little searching for KEG1.

1995 model year PCM has the transmission solenoid protection diodes onboard. The 1994 does not, those diodes are on the transmission solenoid pack. Not an issue to have double diodes, it could to go the other way around.

More info about that 1995 model year PCM (BAN1) here from Subford: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l#post20180425

Dang ok, do I need to be wary about the KEG1 value as well?

As others have said, technically it will work if it is indeed for a 95/5.8/E4OD.

I have no direct knowledge of those facts, so did not & won't recommend purchasing it.

If you had it in hand, I'd say sure. Plug it in & it'll probably work.

What do you mean value?
The BAN1 is a better computer, newer and has diodes in it.

That's just the "catch code" used to more quickly identify the calibration. Technically, the calibration code is a different (longer) sequence of numbers, but I usually use the catch code for identification. As others have suggested, you don't absolutely need to match the catch code when replacing a PCM, but you need to know what you're doing if you go that route. Pin locations and operational differences can vary.

Take the cover off the KEG1 and take a picture, and upload it.

I have BAN1 and can compare everything, yes EVERYTHING.
I have the hardware and the software for both calibrations, I will be able to tell you the exact differences in calibrations.

I just meant the values of the numbers on the computers lol just because they are numbers AND letters.

But yes I think I'm going to go ahead and purchase it and let you guys know.

Do you have to do much to make sure its all good before i put it in? Or should it be plug n play?

Pull the cover off, look at the three capacitors, make sure there not leaking and damaged the board. Many pics online of leaky capacitors on these computers.
