I needed a new filter for a Edelbrock 10" air cleaner. Guess what, you can't find the specs anywhere so you are stuck with buying a nearly $30 filter for an almost $45 air cleaner. Screw that.

I bought a 10" filter at Oreilly's and it turned out to be slightly too large. Finding air cleaners by dimensions isn't the easy thing to do. I went onto ebay and Amazon to see what I could find with the rough dimension of 10" and 2" thick. I found the Fram CA184 was close at just under 10" and just over 2", I verified on the Fram website. Of course, the height isn't that important since it's a open sided sandwich type cleaner. Fram isn't carried in the places near me so I did a web search and found a site that does interchanges. Almost 200 different makes and models interchange with the CA184. I settled on the WIX 42054, $16, since I could order it to the Oreilly's I needed to return the first one to. If that wasn't available I could get the STP SA184, $15, across the street at AutoZone.

I took the original in with me when I returned the first filter and picked up the WIX. The ID and OD were a perfect match and the height was about 2 1/4". BINGO! It fits perfect and looks great too. When I was looking for possible candidates on ebay I put a Motorcraft FA1R on the watch list for $19 shipped, they made me an offer of $12 so I figured WTH and bought it as a replacement.

So if you are needing a filter for the 10" Edelbrock 1208 air cleaner here's a list of interchangeable filters for the CA184. I know some of the brands are obsolete but if you stumble onto NOS offerings on ebay or anywhere else I'm sure you can get them for a bargain price:
