I'm going to have to crawl under my 2010 4x4 F250 with the 5.4 gasser to change the fuel filter and, needing this to go as smoothly as possible, thought I'd pool the collective wisdom of this forum.
Which brand of filter do you guys recommend? Any particular one(s) to avoid?
What type of removal tool is the best to use (plastic or metal?) (scissor type or collar type, or other?) Any hints on using?
Do I need to release residual pressure in the fuel system (and then prime afterwards) and how best to do this?
Any other hints on doing this job? I really hate re-inventing the wheel to do a common job for the first time!
I always use Napa filters and use the scissor type, just select the size that fits around the fuel line shove it in, I always use some WD40 on the fitting first to make it slide easier.
200k on my 5.4 and it only gets motorcraft filters it's entire life since buying it new. Use some rubber safe spray lube before inserting a set of plastic fuel line tools.
do not buy aluminum, they are awful. I have the set linked for nearly twenty years now https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-...nnect-tool-set
