Stock fuel filter bowl, wanting to install a FP gauge. For those that have done it on the post filter port did you use a straight fitting adapter or did you need a 90*. I'll probably pull the fuel bowl to do it and reseal everything while I'm at it.
While I have the bowl off any recommendations on things to do? I was going to remove the heater and saw some posts about removing the valve in the center.
There's a fella that doesn't post much here now that had some tips and pictures on the best way to do this. (SkyskiJason)
Probably would come up in the advanced search if you cross reference his name with "fuel pressure". Probably just a 180* straight fitting. JIC or AN I don't remember.
Me, I would just use the reseal kit and replace the heating element with the newer one and plug it back in. I think Diesel O-rings sells all that stuff. You can buy the whole fuel bowl assembly I think too if you want. I would be tempted to replace the lines to both heads but that wouldn't be a requirement. I'd be curious to see if the regulator was still working right once the the gauge is hooked up.
I believe that @Sous had an issue with his iispro sending unit that was made right under warranty.
I did...
I bought the ZF6 three way ISSPRO EV2 set consisting of fuel pressure, exhaust gas temperature and boost. Shortly after installing the gauges and sensors, the fuel pressure sensor failed. I was in contact with support at ISSPRO and they sent me a sensor and snubber at no cost to me. The sensor has been fine since and that was a good 7 years or so ago.
About a year and a half after installing the sensors and gauges. The microprocessor in the EGT gauge was acting up. ISSPRO sent me a new gauge at no cost to me and that has been working well ever since too. I am not a fan of buying something for the warranty, but I appreciate a good warranty that comes with a reliable product.
I have an Autometer. Did have a sensor fail which they replaced out of warranty. Seems like the Tech man said I didn’t need a snubber when I questioned about adding one.
I’m using a straight fitting, but would require a 90 if adding a snubber.
I have one of the straight ones like F350towing linked. Just want to have everything on hand before I start if possible.
What's the deal with the stem in the center of the bowl? I remember someone posting about gutting it.
@F350towing I saw in another thread you shoed a voltmeter in your accessory port. Do you leave that in all of the time? My accessory port is live all of the time. Where did you get that voltmeter?
I used the adapter that was posted above, and the sensor is for my cts3. And I used the passenger side fitting.
Hardest part is getting the allen wrench into the plug as it's a bit down in there. Getting the sensor in is a 10 min job shouldn't need to pull the bowl..
