IIRC the primaries go inside due to throttle cable and linkage...
But is that how the intake manifold is made to run
Is that the smaller port of the 2 so the air flow is high to help keep the air / fuel mixed.
If you use the large port the air flow is slow and with the throttle almost closed the fuel can drop out of the air causing problems.
That is the problem running a intake manifold that works between 3000 & 10,000 RPM. The ports are so large the air flow is slow and the fuel drops out of the air / fuel mix and will not run at low RPM's
Dave ----
That intake is a square bore, primaries and secondaries are same size on it and carb, and it's the dual port, has 2 runners to each cylinder, one for primary, one for secondary, never had any issues with the Offy DP intake on any of my trucks running at idle-low rpm, only issue I had was with the Edlebrock being too much carb so I went back to the Holey 390..
I thought the DP intake had smaller primary ports?
If the same size then why 2 ports?
Dave ----
On a square bore, all 4 ports are the same size, on a spread bore (quadrajunk ) the secondaries are larger, on the DP intake, the primary "runners" are a tad smaller, the secondaries are a tad larger, if you look at the head side of the intake you can see the 2 different intake "runners" have a divider between them, the ports are the same size. Look at the 360 view of it...

I know about the ports on the 2 different manifolds and why I said what I did.
I also thought the OP was using a DP manifold and asked how the carb should be mounted on it.
If I am wrong sorry for getting everything mixed up

No worries I probably read it wrong and decided to explain something that didn't need it LOL!
