I usually read all of them, apparently not this time
The responses, not so much
I read the OP
and
I read the OP's responses mostly
His (your) original complaint would not have me looking at the module
I'd be deep in a book and be looking at a few PIDS to start with
You do any of that?
There is a diagnostic flow chart in the book (course your complaint is not going to be in that flowchart (no temperature related concerns will be in there)
Like post 7
"I sprayed it with something"
WTF is that? and Why
You go off on a tangent and you lose me
I try to straighten you out
Same with post 1, where you say 2 new remotes and 2 new batteries
Means squat if the remotes are Chinese
Well I sorta kinda fixed it... usually.
I shoved a folded-up piece of foam floor cushion behind the suspect wiring harness connection and it works *most* of the time now.
Just bought a newer E250 a couple days ago and this one will be someone else's problem soon enough.
Sorry to hear of your difficulties, I know how frustrating these issues are. Ever since I got 'Strayhound' I've had intermittent issues as you describe. In the case of mine (1998 E150 Club Wagon Chateau) I got me a capacitor checking DMM to see if any of the Capacitors were out of spec. It turned out that three of them were. I also niticed that one of the relays got very hot as to slightly melt the plastic case. Purchasing the Capacitors and Relays online I went with the most affordable kits and after replacing these components on the PCB the RKE began working again.
Knowing of 'counterfeit' products coming out of China and elsewhere I was suprised to find that these kits were also substandard likely also made in China or Lower Sloviobia or somewhere. Once I ger so other stuff done I'm going to revisit my repairs and make component purchases from Mouser, Digikey or some other reputable supplier.
