Oh Yeah, BIG word of advice to those following! If you have not done the cable end upgrade on your Rear Suicide Doors YET, do it now!!!! They will break on you and you will curse the day knowing you could have prevented the pain and anguish trying to open the stuck door. There are a lot of YouTube Videos. I would suggest watching a bunch of them first to get an idea of some of the pitfalls, and quick tricks. The upgrade will take about an hour per door, if you are taking your time. It is really easy when the doors are open. Otherwise add another 30 minutes to an hour of Cussing, Swearing, and Hating yourself for not doing it earlier. Of course this is free advice, take it for what it is worth.
yeah it had that metal "repair" piece on it, but apparently didn't stop the ball end from coming off the latch at the bottom. (He won't admit it but honestly I think it's door slamming that did it in) he says he lost his grip on the handle and hears it pop off.... waiting on an endoscope from lowes to be ready for pickup..our last one bit the dust from a kink in the line..
Ok so wound up going to Lowes and buying a replacement scope since ours bit the dust. It gave enough vision and perspective to finally get the cable back on and the door open!! I still kinda wanna strangle him because AFTER he got everything back together he goes hey when you get a chance order another pack of those little metal pieces that go on the cables.. I was like ah, I told ya yesterday they were in stock down the street.. well just pick up some and eventually I'll add them.. YOU JUST HAD THE DOORS APART! Good thing I love him lol.. but anyhoo, klien makes a borascope for like $40 and it helped. We originally had one for those damn spark plug bores.. we already fixed that mess... but Thank you much everyone especially those diagrams they helped figure out what we needed to look for and see.

Yay!!! No Domestic Violence and still In Love!!!! I'm So Happy you got that fixed, and we all were able to help in one way or another. From your post is sounds like the Cable housing ends had already been replaced with the aluminum ones, and the retainer ball on the end of the cable slipped from it's perch on the latch. Might need to double check the ball and perch and figure some way to secure that connection.

yeah I ordered new cables and new repair ends maybe these are just too worn out. It's an older truck (2000) and almost 300k miles on it..its like the 3rd time the doors acted up but the 1st time the bottom came undone. I'd rather run interference and put new and add the pieces and the wire ties and hope its good for another decade.
