Should I switch...

My loyal 1999 F-150 has 482,000kms (Canada). I have an opportunity to buy a 2011 F-150 XLT 5.0V8 with only 159,000kms. Should I make the switch? Your thoughts?

In US miles, your truck has just at 300,000 miles and the truck you're looking at has nearly 98,000 miles.

I'm sorry, I'm not convinced that the 2011 is going to outlast the 1999 model.

Having stated that, if you're truck is exhibiting signs that she's about to fail, then this should by you some time.

These were exactly my thoughts. I would not be buying used at nearly 100K miles.

why not? at 100k it's barely broken in. There's no reason why any vehicle in this day should run less than 300k if it is maintained. I wouldn't even think twice about buying used at 100k. I've never owned a vehicle that had less, usually upgrade between 250k and 300k and they're still running strong.

I'd have no problem buying a 5.0 with 100,000. Modern motors, especially the coyote, really are well engineered and do last. I've even had ecoboosts last 200+ before selling them. Still ran strong. I have 160,000 on my 11 mustang and it runs like a raped ape.

I bought my 2010 bout a year ago it had 160,000k on it. Granted I Probably overpaid for it by a couple thousand but my other truck just had died and I was looking at a loaded Lariat w/sunroof and hard top Tonneau cover heated/cooled leather bucket seats and a 5.4 V8 not a damn Ecoboost motor LOL trucks should have a V8. I haven't had many issues with it just the normal run of the mill items A/C Compressor brakes and needs a passenger side exhaust manifold, the mechanics at the used car place I bought it at were about useless as **** on a boar hog and didn't do it correctly and didn't use the updated parts from Ford but in the end what can ya do just make sure it get done correctly the next time. Yea I would not hesitate to look at a truck with over 100k if you want lower mileage then the price is going way up and the payments will show

Thank you to everyone for your input. I went with another 2011 F150 XLT with 120,000 kms. Loving it so far!

one of each

I have a 2003 F150 SCrew and a 2014 F150 SCrew. The 2009-14s have more room in front seat area and more comfortable. However, the "drive by cable" setup of the 1997-2004 is far more responsive.
