As part of the rewiring of the Truck, the Headlight switch is now to be reinstalled. It is the same switch that has always been in the Truck and as long what i remember it worked fine in the past.
Now it seems the second pull doesn´t work correct, i attached videos. I know about the Button to get the lever in and out. But to me it seems the ´second pull doesn´t come out far enough.
The connection to the dimmer switch does not get any voltage.
What am i doing wrong?
I own a 55 F-100 my light switch might be out of a 1956. I converted to a 12 volt negative ground system. The switch handle has a flat and you see that little button that has a small spring. You insert the handle and rod, push down on the little spring button you will hear and audiable click. If you don’t hear that click the handle and rod did not catch, it took me several tries. I had to file the base of the switch button just a little. Also the switch rod has a point and a circular cut around the rod. If the point is sharp file a little off the tip. Mid 50 in Arizona has a blog on that switchAJ
I've been told the 6 volt rod and **** will not work on the 12 volt switch. But you can mod the 12 volt rod and **** to work on the 6 volt switch. I did run into that only ordered the 12 volt switch I had a 6 volt switch and ****. The switch was burned up TU. The **** looked the same between the switches so did the rod I filed the tip on the 12. Volt **** and filed a little off the ****. After I.dud that it clicked right in. Follow the Mid 50 ammamendem. It worksAJ
ls thank you for the instruction.
aj it´s the original 56 12Volte switch which has worked until i disassembled the Truck, but now maybe i destroyed something inside, it seems i can not repair it, i need a new on
Hi Ingo gee sorry to hear that. I bought my head lite swiych from Mid 50 in Arizona. Looking at the 1956 wire Sematic I went to a fuse panel so I could protect my Light switch, and my Accessories. Planed on adding a few 12 volt items. Most of your terminals on that headlite switch are positive 12 volt. It might have grounding protection thru the switch case. Only Item that causes trouble is the dome lite. That little fuse in the back of the lite switch. I see you can get the Mid 50 trouble shooting guide. On line. I think it warns you about that dome lite feature. I used a 15 Amp inline fuse to protect the power to the Headlite switch off the keyed ignition switch on the hot side not the accessory pole. I installed a hot battery buss and a switched battery buss. 8 glass fuses all total and I made it so I can add to.that. if I need to. I still need to install my dome lite..Haven't got any parts for it as of yet. The PO did run the wires before they installed the head liner. Really a nice job on the interior. And fire wall. AJ.
