Hi guys,
Last week I finally pass the inspection (register it) and got license plates for my van.
It was noted that they cannot find the VIN location on the frame, so next year I need to show them, or to change tge VIN at the authorities.
Can someone send me photo/video how ti read it (without removing the body)?
Thanks
I'm not sure where it's at
I also am not positive it has a complete vin anywhere
Might just as well plan on having them stamp it and get through the hoops that way
Remember when the a hole blew up the federal building in OK city OK?
They tracked that rental van to the guy by the rear axle partial vin
So, if you're the FBI it's easy, one call to Ford
I'm sure there is a partial vin if not a complete one somewhere on the frame
BUT
It'll be on top, under the body somewhere and inaccessible to most everyone
And that's on purpose
There is complete VIN under thw windshield and on the stickers, but they want to see it on the frame. If not, they will stamp it, and probably new one.
Let them stamp it
For instance
I have a hotrod Yamaha Banshee
An 89 that had the frame replaced and a ton of other mods to make it fast
Bought it cheap blown up and was looking for the serial number
Found the spot where it was supposed to be all ground and sanded down
About lost it and freaked out, contacted the guy, friend of a friend
He said no doubt, the frame had been replaced, there was no number and it was the Layton city cops that did all that sanding, while checking it for being for a stolen bike or something
Apparently, the new frames you buy from Yamaha have no serial number
I did get it registered and that was years ago
They told me to stamp it if I wanted
Grandson bashed it into some rocks and broke the throttle cables so I haven't road it since last summer Near the shore of the Great Salt Lake at Willard Bay
There's no complete VIN on the frame. In the US, you only have the sticker and VIN plate on the dash. Europe demands the VIN on the frame, so you'll have to stamp it there. The usual place for this is on the passenger side frame rail just behind the front wheel. Been there, done that many times.
According to google search ........ On a 1994 E350 7.3 IDI Ambulance, the VIN would most likely be stamped on the frame in the engine bay, on the top side of the right frame rail, near the front of the vehicle, potentially just below the alternator or close to the front axle; you may need a flashlight and a wire brush to clean the area and clearly see the VIN number
