Question Longer wheel studs needed

Hey group, I am needing help finding longer wheel studs for the front of my 1977 F250 4x4 Highboy. I am replacing the steel wheels that were on it with aluminum wheels that are thicker. With the aluminum wheels there is not enough threads sticking out for the lug nuts. Only about 4 threads catch the nuts. The Doorman 610-219 seem to have the correct dimensions except they are too short at 2". I need them at 3". Does anyone know where to get the wheel studs that I need? Thanks

Are the aluminum wheels a conical seat? Or do they take a shanked lug nut?

As is the case with studs most of the time you're best to go down to your parts store ant match with the one you want. there are too many variations and I've had poor luck matching out of the book.

If you want a 1/2x20 3" stud that's the easy part. not go match the shank.

Here I had this info on hand, but please follow up with your own home work and let us know how you get along. I believe the normal way is to use a commonly referred to as a "shanked lug nut". Also called a Mag Seat w/washer style. Meaning a lug nut that goes inside the aluminum thick faced rim. Like when you run Slotted Mags, Hurricanes/Fins and or Aluminum Spokes. You use the same lug stud that is installed.

If you just have to upgrade here is some info I got off FTE.

Lug Nuts, Shank with Washer, 1/2 in. x 20 RH, Closed End, Chrome Plated Steel, Set of 4
brand
Gorilla Automotive Manufacturer's Part Number 75187
Part Type Lug Nuts
Product Line Gorilla Lug Nuts
Summit Racing Part Number GOR-75187
Lug Nut Thread Size 1/2-20 RH in.
Lug Nut Seat Style Shank
Lug Nut Head Style Standard
Open End Design No
Lug Nut Shank Length (in) 1.000 in.
Lug Nut Shank Diameter (in) 0.740 in.
Washer Included Yes

Washer Outside Diameter (in) 1.125 in.
Lug Nut Material Steel
Lug Nut Overall Length (in) 2.000 in.Wrench Size Required (in)
7/8 in. Lug Nut Finish Chrome
Quantity Sold as a set of 4.
The Gorilla #75187 lug nuts are the correct fit for your aluminum slotted mags.
They have the correct 1.000" shank length and .740" shank diameter to properly fit your wheel.
Be certain to buy the correct part number, Gorilla also makes the same lug nut in a .750" shank length and .685" shank diameter #73187, while these will "work" the wheel will not be properly centered.

correct:

incorrect: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gorilla-7318...33c1ac&vxp=mtr

You can also buy these locally at most parts stores.

Are you sure as I dont think I have ever seen an alum wheel that did not use a shanked nut with a washer.
Are the wheels after market and if so who makes them and if not what did they come off of?
