Wheel swap problems.

Wheel swap problems.
I got some used wheels for my 72 Ranger the bolt pattern is right but the wheel studs don't stick out far enough for me to get the lug nuts on to what I feel is a safe area. Could I get longer wheel studs or would it be safe to have the wheel machined a little( I'd rather not do that but if that is the only way I mignt consider it)?

Hey welcome to FTE! Just a quickie, are these aluminum wheels? They make truck lug nuts that have a longer reach than the ones for cars.

Ya these are aluminun wheels. You talking about a lug nut that will reach back in the wheel hole to get more threads on the stud?

Yes, just make sure they don't protrude beyond the back of the wheel.

You said that you wheels were aluminum/mag wheels right?
They sell lugs nuts for aluminum wheels that hold better they are kinda spendy though.

Clarification, they make lug nuts for aluminum wheels for trucks that are longer than the lug nuts for aluminum wheels for cars.
