Heating Problem

This morning I went out and started my truck early to let it warm up. When I got in the heat was still cold, so I started driving and the temp. guage went up some more but the air was still ice cold. Then I turned the blower down some and the air got warm. But, when I turned it back up their was an antifreeze-like smell and the air went ice cold again. Does anybody knbow what could be causing this. I know that it is a little low on coolant, but could that cause this?

Low coolant level can cause poor circulation. the coolant may not be flowing properly through the heater core due to airlock. Try topping your coolant up. that may help. the heater core may be leaking as well causing the antifreeze smell.
