Been working for a couple of months to save dad's F150. Had work done to replace inner and outer rockers as well as patch a few holes in the cab floor. Bought new rust free donor doors also. Bed floor is in rough shape. Sides, front and tailgate are fine. Parts are difficult to find as everyone likely knows. Better to find a bed in good shape and have it repainted as-is or pull the floor out and install in my existing bed? Appreciate the advice

The undercarriage had significant rust from years of New England winters. Frame is good, front end is good. Other repairs completed or underway as mentioned in my original post
A question, first. What caused the rust in the bed ?
It's always good to eliminate the "cause" before making repairs.
Probably the combination of plastic bed liner and cheap chicom metal used tobuild it.

Have you dropped the spare tire and looked for rust? Above the spare is what holds the frame rails together. Above the tow hitch is a likely place for rust destruction. The botfom of the cab is a bad spot especially behind the straight piece of stiffener on the floor board. If the cab mounts are ok, the rest can be easy. Frame rust is a killer though. look at the contact points for the front bump stops. They tend to go. Also look ar the radiator mount/crossmember.
Rust is a big deal.once it takes hold it can spread quickly. If you don't have welding skills it may be too much to take on.
