Speed Control
Dealer may be able to do it but it will cost a bunch of
truck payments. The steering wheel has the button controls
on it.Also would need to purchase the servo and wireing.
Best to look for aftermarket system.
Hope this helps.

Hey theTooth!
I touched base with my Parts Department guru and he shows a factory cruise control kit available for your 2004 F-150 STX (assume it's a 4.6 V-8) that adds the cruise control to the factory steering wheel. The Ford Part # for the kit is 4L3Z9A818AAA. Retail cost is around $161.00 plus labor. I hope this helps you out.
If you have the 5.4 V-8, the part number would be different.
I've never been a fan of aftermarket cruise controls. GM hasn't offered a factory cruise control kit that I can remember. Ford has been offering a factory cruise kit for several years. I wasn't sure if one for a 2004 existed or not until I checked.

I bought a factory cruise control for my truck, does anyone know who to install them and is there anything special I have to do to the computer to get it to work. I have called local dealers and they want around $300 to install it. So is it really that hard to do it?

Get the Ford system. It's not that expensive and reliable.
I understand that. I bought the factory Ford cruise control. I was wandering how hard it was to install?

Threadhead, he may be talking about a Heritage, which is still the old body style without the drive by wire system.
The Factory kit for the Heritage consists of a steering wheel with switches, a servo, a cable, a clockspring, and deactivation switch mounted to a bracket which mounts to the brake booster nuts under the dash and wired to the factory deactivation switch wiring. You can install the whole thing in about an hour and a half. It comes with the full instructions.
Now for the drive by wire new body style the kit only contains a new steering wheel with switches. Only take a few minutes to install. You have to enable it with an NGS though from what Ive been told.

I just installed this upgrade
all 2004-2006 F-150 have electronic throddle controls. So all that is missing is the buttons on the steering wheel. The kit number above is correct. It can be bought for $140 online from partscheep.com or www.fordgenuineaccessory.com
It was easy to install, 20 minutes. Instructions included.
Then it takes the dealer diagnostics machine to turn the truck's computer cruise on. That cost me $80 for the 10 min job. They threw in an inspection of the truck.
The sad part is several dealers wanted several hundred $ for the labor. They all claimed it was a several hour job.
