Define "attached". The hose just snaps into that little clip from the side. The end of the hose is open, sitting in free air. It's not like there's a barbed fitting or anything like that.
You could just tuck the hose into the boot and hope it stays. If feeling really industrious, I bet that clip is still attached to the shift lever. You could pop off the boot and reinstall the hose in the clip.
